Tattapani near Shimla
Located about 50 Kms form Shimla on the banks of the river Sutlej Tattapani is an ideal place to enjoy the river as well as the sulphur springs sprouting out on its banks. The combination of hot and cold water is a natural extravaganza to see at this place. The blue water of the Sutlej is pure and clear along with the serene environment. As the name suggests the place Tattapani is famous for its hot Sulphur water springs.
One can spend hours sitting in the banks of the river on the round stones of different shapes and sizes and enjoying the calm flow of water and occasionally dipping the feet in the hot sulphur water.
This place also has religious significance for the Hindus. The months of January and February are considered the most auspicious for the dip. Holy baths are also taken on Baisakhi the 13th April and Makar Sakranti, Festivals are also held during these days

Things to see and do
The Tattapani village is spread in about a kilometer of area and there are a number of activities that can be done here
Hot Sulphur bath
Take hot sulphur water bath which has medicinal values and is famous for curing many skin diseases. The bath can be taken along the river banks or in the private swimming pool provided by a good situated nearby. If your body is having joint pains, fatigue or any kind of skin disease, this is just the place for you. You will definitely come back more relaxed and fresh.
White water Rafting
White water rafting can be done from Chabba (12 Kms) or Sunni ( about 5 Kms before Tattapani) to Tattapani. The time taken for this is about one and a half hour and charges are around Rs 600 per person. This activity is done on sunny days during the daytime only. Hotel Hot Spring Therme and Spa in Tattapani has the required equipment and license from the Himachal Touring department for performing this activity. They provide all the equipment, dress and shoes along with well trained and professional staff.
Collecting stones from the Sutlej River

There are huge numbers of round and oval stones in the river bank which have become very smooth in touch as they have come rolling from far distant mountains. The stones are in various colors and shapes which are collectable items. We have captured some of the photographs of these stones which are published along with this article.
Mountain Biking / cycling
Cycling is a unique and great refreshing experience along the banks of river Sutlej. You can enjoy the scenic beauty of the river the flora and fauna and village life. The cycling trek is 12 kilometers long having lots of upside and downside curves in a very peaceful environment in the lap of nature. If you are more enthusiastic you can go up to the higher stretch called Chindi village which is 30 kilometers from Tattapani. Again all the cycling needs are provided by the hotel Hot Spring Therme and Spa.
